This ring features an exquisite piece of Montana Agate cut in a low-profile tablet shape. It is set in a simple sterling silver setting so as not to distract from the beauty of the stone. The warmth of the stone is perfectly balanced by the 14k gold-fill round band with a smooth texture, measuring approximately 1.5 mm in width.

Formed in the Pleistoncene era, Montana agate is a type of chalcedony found in the alluvial deposits (i.e., river gravels) of the Yellowstone River. They have toppled down from ancient mountainsides that were formed 160 million years ago that were then carried and tumbled by rivers. This agate would probably be better named Yellowstone Agate, because it is only found in the Yellowstone Park area. The tremendous volcanic activity that produced the conditions necessary for the formation of this agate spanned hundreds of miles and millions of years. Montana agates are earthy and powerful, helping to balance our emotions and keep our feet connection to the earth.

I try to use every bit of metal on my bench and not let anything go to waste.
