This pair of unique and stunning earrings were made by fusing strips of 22k gold foil that were carefully cut by hand and heated and burnished to the fine silver earring forms using a technique called Keum-boo. The earrings feature faceted citrine beads that compliment the warm gold, attached with wrapped 14k gold-fill balled wire. Earrings measure ~2.5" long including ear wires.
Keum-boo is an ancient Korean gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of high karat gold to fine silver. The gold foil is applied with heat and pressure—mechanical gilding—to produce a permanent diffusion bond.
