This beautifully organic ring is made with a piece of Abalone set in a 14k yellow gold-fill bezel with sold 14k yellow gold accent beads. The shell sits in a sterling silver base plate that has been textured, oxidized, and buffed to a soft glow. The band is a made from two pieces of sterling silver wire soldered together and hammered for an organic feel.

Apache Sage Rhyolite is also known as Mimbres Valley Picture Rhyolite. It comes from a small deposit in the Mimbres Valley, northeast of Demming, New Mexico. Apache Sage has a fantastic dendritic pattern and a background of colorful swirls that looks like sagebrush or trees against a sweeping sky. Rhyolite is of volcanic origin.

I try to use every bit of metal on my bench and not let anything go to waste. In this way, all my pieces are somehow related - melted, remelted, cut, recut, weaving together so many stories being told through the jewelry.
